It's Not as Bad as You Think! It's Worse!
Now more than ever, it's time to shop at Conscious American. According to a recent article on Salon, a new report confirms that the clothes we wear on our back are made on the backs of children: "According to the report, one woman at a factory supplying H&M clothes “estimated that 20 of the 60 workers were children.” Others told Human Rights Watch that “children worked as hard as adults” and would stitch long hours into the night.
Other suppliers such as The Gap and Adidas source from factories in Cambodia as well, where human rights conditions are deplorable. Let's band together to stop these practices and, at the same time, ensure a healthy 21st century workforce for Americans!
Workers in these factories make about 50 cents an hour. There is no such thing as bargaining in places like these: "Last year, strikes for better pay were crushed by authorities who shot dozens dead." Let's stop supporting this slave labor!
